Tesco set a target to build new stores between 2007 and 2020 which will have, on average, a carbon footprint half the size of those built in 2006. In order to achieve this, Tesco are replacing their old building blue print with a revolutionary new Sustainable Format Store, designed by Michael Aukett Architects.

The first of the new format stores is at Cheetham Hill in Manchester and forms part of a larger regeneration project for the area.
